I'm one of the few on the margins who surprised the most games prices haven't gone up until recently. On top of that, regardless of the scale of the game, developers obviously have to be paid. If all they had done was upscale old textures and clean up a few meshes it might not have been but this might as well be a new game. In this case the complete ground up remake of the game, recasting a voice actors, and building a new way more immersive areas it is by far the most valuable remake made to date. Even things like the Dark Souls remake that was only marginally better I think would have been worth 60, definitely the 40 they charged for it. I don't think I've ever been one to think of remakes is needing to be any less.

If you just play the original it won’t be the same, I can guarantee you that. This isn’t the same as something like The Last of Us Part I, which is mainly a graphical remake with some additional tweaks - it’s a complete remake, similar to the Resident Evil remake in a manner of speaking. Also if you’re playing on PS5, you get Dualsense and 3D audio features for extra immersion. The game is completely overhauled and remade from scratch, gameplay is tightened up and completely modernised, new mechanics have been added, zero G gameplay is improved, that annoying asteroid shooting mini game has been replaced with something much better, there’s new story content and explorable areas too, Isaac actually talks, not forgetting to mention that it looks infinitely better in terms of graphics and lighting - it’s actually much darker this time around - which improves the mood and scares. Not saying this because I’m biased (I know I am but it’s not the point). They have proven they care abt the franchise and i have my full trust in them for the future remakes of the series. Im doing my 3rd playthru rn and i am having a different experience from my previous 2. I played the original so much i memorised the scares but the intensity director has made it frightening again due to its unpredictability. One of my favourite parta of the remake is the intensity director. And i wont spoil anything to any new players on the fence but the alternate ending you can get itself is also amazingly well put and thats all ill say. They fill in certain gaps there were left vague and the dialogue has been rewritten for the better. Motive has not only gone to great lengths to respect the established lore, but also enhance it by making DS1 remake more coherent.

I can Genuinely say that the remake is one of the very few recent triple a games thats well worth its price due to the care, polish and respect motive gave for dead space.Īs a longtime fan who has read all the extended universe novels and watched the movies and played every game.
